Stigma:

Why make yourself suffer due to the Stigma associated with Mental HealthCare?

Why should one have stigma to come forward for treatment of / help with mental healthcare, it should simply be considered as part of your health and wellbeing and not be separated from general health issues. For physical health issues people take initiative and move forward themselves by contacting a physician, but for any Mental Health issue we wait for someone to encourage us to go and see a professional! Why?

Whether it be an adjustment problem within the family environment, Work-life balance, or even marital /couple conflict, we continue our life with stress until it escalates and becomes unbearable.

We need to seek help on time and avoid procrastinating.

Throughout my experience working with couples facing conflicts in their marriage, I have noticed that one partner often believes they don’t need to seek help from a psychologist. It’s important to remember that it’s not just about one individual having problems or not – it’s about being a team. When one partner struggles with unresolved childhood issues, career-related stress, or any other adjustment problems, it can affect the entire relationship. It’s okay to ask for help and work together to overcome any challenges that may arise. Remember, seeking help is a brave and positive step towards a happier and healthier relationship.

It becomes necessary for both partners to attend the session and cooperate with each other to resolve the issues, to make a relationship healthier and better with coping mechanism.

Same as children with separated or divorced parents, they struggle with emotional problems, they tend to show withdrawal symptoms, those children should be taken to therapeutic/counselling sessions during and after the separation/divorce process.

Parents think they are taking care of the children on alternative weekend and that this is enough but no one knows what is going through the child’s mind, they always have questions as to why are their parents not together, why can they not watch movie or play with both parents together, or why are both parents not participating in school activities like by attending meetings, functions and even homework? Why can’t they live a “normal” life like other children who live happily with both parents.

This creates a vacuum in their life, to such an extent that they are affected by this even when they are adults which are married and leading in high-ranking positions in their professional carrier.

I admire people who realise what’s happening with their life and approach a psychologist themselves as they feel that there is a need for them to live a “normal” healthy life.

Even if our physical health is excellent but our mental health is not, we won’t be able to live healthy and happy, therefore we need to balance both physical and mental health equally. We need to face reality. There is Strive to pursuit a Goal, to find balance in life, one may struggle with various problems such as adjustment, stress management, Rejection from partner or retrenchment from work, and of course in addition: loneliness and financial stress too.

This can be handled by a mental health professional. Why we wait and suffer?

This happens due to ignorance or STIGMA of being labelled with “Mental illness” or addressed as “having some serious mental health problem etc.” I would suggest Rather Honor yourself then suffering due to the STIGMA of how you will be seen by “society”.
