Stress Management

Stress management is important and many individuals find it challenging to handle stress since they may not know why they are experiencing it, and when they are in a stressful circumstance, they may be unable to locate the right techniques or resources to alleviate it. It can be difficult and overwhelming to deal with that kind of burden, and it is crucial to have access to the right support and tools to assist you in managing it.

Identify your stress:

Duration: one must know for how long you have been suffering from stress, for example:

  • Personal or professional: causing stress vice-versa
  • Reason and root cause of stress
  • people involved in your stress such as family members, friends, or colleagues, superiors
  • or from an incident that might have happened in the past

When you feel stress creeping into your life, it’s important to take a closer look at the root cause. Take a moment to really examine what’s causing your stress and write down a detailed plan for how to overcome it. Sometimes, what we perceive as stress is really just a matter of managing our daily activities more efficiently.

Remember, if stress is impacting your mental health, it’s crucial to address it head on. Take the time to explore and understand where your stress is coming from and who or what may be contributing to it. Once you’ve pinpointed the source, you can start to manage your stress in a more effective way.

Don’t be afraid to reach out for help if you need it. Whether you turn to family, friends, colleagues, or professionals, there are solutions out there. Additionally, make sure to explore whether your stress may be a result of a lack of confidence, time-management skills, or the ability to resolve certain aspects of your life. With a little empathy and attention, you can overcome stress and take control of your life.

There are a few areas which we sometimes either deliberately or unintentionally ignore:

  • Procrastination
  • Calibre against capability: over committed
  • Overlooked the Priorities
  • Lack of communication
  • Supressing your concern towards issue
  • Blaming others

Now let’s talk about Covid-19 stressful holidays and festive seasons:

Holiday Stress:

The cancellation of overseas trips has caused a lot of us to rework our holiday plans, leading to diverse opinions and a deep sense of disappointment among family members.

This can trigger stressful emotions like anger and frustration. It’s understandable to feel stranded and unable to appreciate the festivities. However, let’s remind ourselves of what is truly significant during this time – being together and cherishing one another’s company.

Is it worth it to travel far away and worry about our safety, or is it better to remain close to home and savor each other’s presence? Let’s take a moment to empathize with one another and prioritize what truly matters.

Financial stress:

Many of us have had to make changes to our holiday plans, with the disappointment it can bring and differences of opinion within families. Finding the right balance between what to spend money on and what to avoid can be a major source of stress, and can result in overspending and anxiety about how we will manage our finances in the coming months.

In light of the current economic climate, it is more important than ever to consider our financial obligations and to live within our means. Many families are facing financial difficulties due to job losses, reduced salaries, and uncertain business prospects.

Although it may be tempting to maintain the same lifestyle as before, it is essential to be realistic about our financial situation and to make responsible choices for our long-term financial wellbeing. Let’s work together to support each other through these challenging times.
