Couples and marriage counselling in Sandton

Most couples arrive having had the same argument for years. Dr Suchita Chavda works with couples in Kelvin, Sandton on the pattern underneath the argument, rather than refereeing the argument itself.

What brings couples in

You do not need a crisis to justify coming. Many couples come because something has quietly gone flat.

How couples therapy works

Sessions are structured so both people are heard. The aim is not to decide who is right — it is to understand the cycle you are both caught in, where it starts, and what each of you does that keeps it turning.

Work focuses on the pillars of a relationship: communication, trust, intimacy and repair. Couples learn how to raise something difficult without it escalating, and how to come back afterwards.

Sometimes couples counselling clarifies that separating is the healthier path. That outcome is worked through with the same care.

The first session is usually both of you together. We map out what has been happening and what each of you hopes for. Individual sessions are sometimes suggested alongside.

Sessions run about an hour. Confidentiality covers you both.
